Macau Galaxy Entertainment International Marathon 2010 1/3

Inside the taxi.

Checking in.

Breakfast at Mac.

Stayed at Mac for a while before going through custom as it was still early.

Taking off.

First time being assigned a seat next to the door. There was more leg space.

During an emergency, we had to help open the 15kg door.

The perks of having an IPad.

Writing on the NB BIB. Marathons really never seem to get enough.

Studying the route.

This is a good book.

We are in Macau!

Queuing for taxi.

At the race expo at the Olympic Stadium.

This is a very simple race expo. No booths selling any sports stuff. The only things sold were these event merchandises at this small booth. I bought the long sleeve tee. They ran out of stock for the M size jacket. They told me the new stock will only arrive at around 1500Hr and asked me to return in the afternoon. In my heart I was thinking: "What?!!"

It seems rather deserted. Maybe the reason is the expo just opened for the day for 30 mins. Its only around 1100Hr now.

Testing the time chip.

The running tee would only be given out after you complete the race. This is quite different from the other races which I know.

The banner for 2011 is already out!

The race route.

Went to look around the stadium.

The signboards for tomorrow.

Water station = 水站 and Sponge station = 海绵站

Tomorrow we will walk in here to enter the stadium.

We were not allowed to enter the stadium. Here is a peek into it.

There is an indoor swimming pool next to the stadium.

Walking to the bus stop. The friendly staff (who can speak Cantonese like machine guns firing) at the event merchandise booth told me how to take bus to go to my hotel.

My bus just left as I was nearing the bus stop. Its bus 33.

Bus stop. It did not took long for the next 33 to arrive.

Inside the bus. I was told the fare is MOP$1.30. I did not have coins so I paid MOP$2 instead.

Crossing the Ponte Governador Nobre de Carvalho to go to Macau. The stadium is at Taipa.

The Ponte de Amizade in the background.

Alighted next to Lisboa Hotel.

Grand Lisboa Hotel.

Casino Lisboa

My hotel was a 5 mins walk away.

This reminds me of Vietnam.

My hotel.

The room. Nice and clean.

Control box just next to the bed.

Quickly went out for lunch. Found a cha chan teng near the hotel. So hungry I could not manage to decent smile. The previous meal was around 7 - 8 hours ago.

Pineapple fried rice with chicken.

Went to explore the area.

I wonder whether if Singapore still has Yaohan.

At Senado Square.

A very nice alley. Even nicer when its night time and they on all the lights.

Haagen Dazs! I will come here after the race.

Crowded streets.

There is a Brazilian restaurant here ..

.. which does not allow food or drinks inside.

After walking around and losing my way, I finally found St Paul's Cathedral.

The back of the wall.

I walked back to the bus stop beside Hotel Lisboa to take the bus back to the stadium to buy the jacket. The people told me the stock should have arrived at around 1500Hr. The time now was around 1700Hr so it should have arrived.

Taking the bus tack to Taipa.

The bridge which we will run tomorrow.

Reached the stadium.

When I asked the staff there for the jacket they told me its already sold out except for a size M which they had kindly reserved for me. The jackets were selling like hot cakes. Luckily the staff remembered about me wanting the size M jacket.

There was a small crowd inside collecting their race kit.

Travelled back to Macau area for dinner. Wish to rest early today. I had already done a fair bit of walking today. I need the rest.

The sun sets earlier at Macau. By 1830Hr, the place was already dark.

The Grand Lisboa at night.

Hotel Lisboa at night.

Wynn Hotel.

The night scape of Macau was so beautiful.

I had my dinner at the same cha chan teng where I had my lunch. Ordered the same food. Need the rice.

There was some PC available at the hotel. Surfed Facebook for a short while. Sent my wishes online to all my friends. Tomorrow there will be marathon in Macau, marathon in Singapore and half Ironman in Phuket. Wishes all taking part good luck.

The gear for tomorrow.

The race starts at 0600Hr but I need to report to the stadium before 0530Hr as they will close the stadium after that. All the 42km, 21km and 10km will start together in the stadium at the same time.

The weather will be cooling tomorrow. Hope that will help me in the race.

Goodnight.
