A good way to bring the TackOnz around. Just snap them onto your running top.

Nike LunarGlide+ Trial Training Run

Registration tent.

Signing the attendance.

Each of us were issued a BIB to wear during the run. Luckily brought the TackOnz along.

The first 20 participants also had a chance to try the new Nike+ SportBand.

The new Nike+ Sportband and sensor to be inserted into the left shoe.

The Nike van with the Nike LunarGlide+ for the participants to try. Just had to exchange it with our running shoe.

The Nike LunarGlide+ and Nike+ Sportband.

Run briefing.

Ming from Nike giving us a briefing on the LunarGlide+ and Sportband. There was no need to calibrate the sensor. All we need to do was to press and hold onto the round button until a "Walk" is displayed on the LED. We just walked around to let the Sportband "sync" with the sensor. We were told not to walk close with each other just in case it syncs the wrong sensor.

Ben Pulham from Racers Toolbox leading us for the warming up. We were doing dynamic warming up instead of the usual static warm up which he said should be used for cooling down after physical activities.

The main idea is to keep the muscles in motion to get the blood flowing to the limbs. It is just like what Michael Phelps does at the pool every time before a race.

Next we had ..

.. forward launches. It was followed by backward launches.

Dont know how to describe this but its sort of like dancing.

Group photo.

About to start ..

Activating the Sportbands on our arms.

LunarGlide+ in action.

Adopted a slow pace to make it a recovery run as I had ran 23km at MR yesterday morning.

Ben leading us in the cooling down with static stretching exercises.

At the end of the session, there was a quiz with prizes to be won. The grand prize was a pair of Nike LunarGlide+.

SAFRA Singapore Bay Run & Army Half Marathon 2009

Walked over to the starting point at Esplanade as I live very near it.

China Street.

Pickering Street.

Phillip Street.

Singapore River.

Reached the river at 0430Hrs and already saw several small groups of people doing warming up runs.

Group photo before the run.

Bag deposit area.

Walking to starting line.

On Benjamin Shears Bridge without a tripod.

Back at finishing line.

Collection of medals.

Me with my medal.

All the bags of the participants being hung on the barricades. Its good that all of us returned early. Later on it would be flooded with people queuing to retrive their belongings.

The Guardsman who very dui cos he cant run as he kena duty.

Its another medal in the collection.

Initially wished to go for a fun run. Thus brought my camera along during the run. Wanted to take photos and videos along the way of the run. Stopped a couple of times on the Benjamin Shears Bridge to video the participants running by.

It was very dark as we had started early at 0530Hrs. Was taking my own sweet time to run. Never get to see much distance markers due to the darkness as well as the narrow route causing all the runners to squeeze together. The first marker I saw was the 4km marker and it was already at 28 mins. Very slow. Very very slow. Not that I cared thou. Ha .. :)

Met the front pack runners running past us while at Fort Road turning into East Coast Park at around 40 mins. Inside ECP it was squeezy. The road was too narrow. Could not even look far ahead. Only noticed the water stations when you passed by it. At one stretch there was even no light except for red cyalume sticks on the 2 sides of the route.

Reached the U - turn point at ECP at around 1h 4m. This is around 9+ km. Gave up on wanting to take photos. Was thinking "Aiyah .. farg it lah! Just run lah!" Ha .. :)

Started to pick up my speed. Began using the strategy of aiming and overtaking. Aim, overtake. Aim, overtake. Aim, overtake.

Overall results:

Gun Time: 2:18:55
Net Time: 2:14:32

Average pace: 6m 23s
